Desert Boot Wild Elk Limited

£295.00

Special Production of 20 pairs.

Combining Wild Elk leather from the Arctic Circle, French calf leather lining, and natural Lactae Hevea rubber soles. These materials are in limited supply and the leather is not repeatable once gone. Up to 20 pairs available in this first drop. Each pair will be hand made to order to minimize waste, and a matching key fob included from the offcuts. The key fob will have no branding so you can enjoy the natural beauty of the leather without distraction.

These desert boots feel incredibly soft due to the soft handle of the Elk leather and the supremely soft French tanned leather used for the lining. The soles offer a level of shock absorption and bounce that no other sole we have ever seen can rival. The heel area inside the boot is lined with nubuck for soft yet durable wearing heel grip. Wooden shanks are enclosed between the midsole and outer sole to help with arch support.

About the leather:

These full-grain Arctic Circle Elk skins were originally tanned for Charles F Stead & Co. Ltd to a crusted state, in a now closed Finnish tannery sometime during the 1970s. Rediscovered amongst various crust leathers in an old storeroom they have now all been dyed and oiled to this limited range of colours. Life in the Arctic Circle is a harsh one. These skins (Genus: Cervus) like all the deerskin family have a dense but soft touch and as the photographs show highlight all the natural defects that are inevitable from living in such a wilderness.

Characteristics:

Distressed (Rugged), Matte/Naked Appearance, Natural Characteristics & Feature, Oiled, Pull Up, Soft Handle, Waxy. This article is very natural, with each skin different from the next.

About the soles:

The purity of virgin hevea milk results in the creation of an exceptional natural sole. Exclusive traditional know-how gives rise to the inimitable microstructure of tiny air bubbles, a guarantee of blissful comfort. A subtle alchemy of tradition and modernity, the LACTAE HEVEA® sole is a source of inspiration for leading shoe designers and all those who appreciate beautiful shoes. Made in France.

Sizing Information

Please use the table below as a guide. To measure foot length, you need to stand on a flat surface adjacent to a vertical plane such as a wall (without skirting boards) or cupboard. Place a ruler on the ground and butt it up against the wall, then stand on top of it with your heel against the same wall and take the measurement to the tip of your longest toe.

Our lasts run true to size according to Standard Last Length measurements. If you are unsure which size to choose after taking your measurement, contact us and we will compare you measurement to our lasts for the most suitable size.

Looking at the table below, we give the shoe inside length by size. You want your foot length to be between 12-15mm under this measurement. If you prefer a little extra width for your little toe, choose a size closest to your foot length + 15mm.
